Aims The programme aims to explore the steady increase of binge and dependant drinking amongst women, the reasons that lie behind it and identify impact on health and lifestyle. It also aims to highlight service provision and identify the barriers women may face when accessing services.

This programme is aimed at anyone wanting to increase their knowledge of the gender specific effects, and impact, of alcohol on women. It is particularly suitable for those who have completed an Alcohol Awareness programme or who have a basic knowledge of alcohol products, alcohol effects, types of dinking behaviours, associated problems and signs etc. If your target audience do not have this knowledge please speak to us and we can incorporate some basic work into this training package. Women and alcohol is particularly suitable for people who work with female alcohol users in any setting - the client group do not have to be dependent drinkers. SRE or PSHCE staff, drug and alcohol agencies, teaching staff, DAAT workers, YOT staff, probation staff etc may find this programme useful to their practice. This programme is also suitable for direct delivery to female service users of any age and from any agency. Please let us know of any special requirements your target group may have. Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS) Healthwise Training Services has made a commitment to deliver quality training.
