Aims and Objectives of this programme

1. To increase awareness of children’s smoking education needs.

2. To consider a whole school model consisting of:

  • Training and support for staff
  • Good practice in the teaching of smoking education and the management of smoking-related incidents
  • Learning activities to use at Key Stage 2
  • Involvement of parents and governors
  • Policy development.

3. To make action plans for smoking education in school

This programme is suitable for anyone working with young people of primary school level who wants to address tobacco smoking. It provides ideas and activities to be used in any setting - statutory, informal or formal education with young people. It is suitable for teachers, other school staff, youth workers, support workers, LAC workers etc.

It requires no previous knowledge on behalf of the participants.

All particpants will receive a comprehensive portfolio of material for future reference or to use in the support/training of other staff.
