Commissioning our serviceHealthwise Training Services develop and deliver a comprehensive and varied range of programmes, targeting individuals who may benefit from drug, alcohol and sex and relationships education. Looking through our range of current programmes you may feel that you or your staff would benefit from some of one course mixed with part of another course - please ring and discuss your personal training requirements with our training team who would welcome the opportunity to identify and explore your diverse training requirements. The aim of our training We successfully research and design our training programmes to increase understanding and to develop knowledge for all programme participants. Our programmes continually aim to build on practical working skills and performance related activity, increase confidence levels and promote and enhance personal effectiveness . Our client groupSince 1994 we have trained over 8,000 teachers, school nurses and a range of drug, alcohol and sexual health agency staff. Our commissioned training work successfully includes the youth service, regional Social Services departments, Probation Services, DAAT's, Connexions, Sure Start, PCTs, LEAs, housing associations, street cleansing workers, CSOs, Police and customers from the private sector. We have also worked with young people from The Princes Trust and local apprenticeship schemes. We have worked with Parents of drug users and with drug users themselves. We have worked with people in treatment, in hostels and those who are recovering from their substance use. We have also worked with young people from the age of 9 to 19 and have helped with the development of peer support and mentoring schemes. Every time we work with a group we learn something from them and feel that the diversity of our clients enhances our understanding and depth of knowledge. MethodologyAll of our programmes offer a half, one day introductory level or a two day intermediate level training package to meet individual and organisational needs.We also deliver a 16 week NCFE qualification in Drug Awareness. Programmes are designed for individuals who educate or support clients - including programmes aimed specifically at those who work with young people - around the issues of drugs, alcohol, sex and relationships. Active Learning Healthwise Training Services have a dynamic team of trainers who use a variety of effective interactive teaching methods to support the recognised different learning styles of individuals. To acknowledge and complement different learning modes and to maintain participant interest and involvement throughout our programmes, our delivery style and pitch maintains a range of person centred approaches and interactive teaching methods. This is particularly beneficial when teaching about drugs, alcohol or sexual health subjects. Effective methods include:

Training Services continually strive to maintain a supportive and non-threatening
learning environment. The tutor on each programme is responsible for facilitating,
with the group members, the development of ground rules for the safety
and well-being of all participants Portfolios All of our programmes are supported by a comprehensive portfolio of material for reference purposes or to feedback to colleagues. Those who complete a course will receive a certificate of completion listing the relevant DANOS standards EvaluationAll of our programmes are evaluated by the participants against the agreed learning objectives. participants are also asked to measure their own confidence levels in the subject area on completion of the programme. These evaluation sheets form the basis of an end of programme report which is forwarded to the purchaser along with the original evaluations. The evaluation report is a very useful tool for purchasers and funders. We ask participants to measure the process and delivery of the day which can be very beneficial for organisational purposes when planning your next training day. Healthwise Training Services travel the country developing and delivering programmes on an in-house basis to a variety of organisations and institutions. Travelling and distance do not present any barriers to commitment to our customers. We also deliver over weekends, evenings or early morinings - whatever suits you.
