Aims

The programme aims to increase understanding and develop participant’s knowledge of the working and implementation issues surrounding the Common Assessment Framework (CAF).

It also aims to raise awareness and increase confidence levels for effectively applying the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) within the workplace.

Objectives

On completion of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Identify and understand the underlying principles of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the importance of implementation
  • Identify and understand the roles and responsibilities of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) co - ordinators, assessors and lead professionals
  • Identify and understand the key features and effective procedures of the Comon Assessment Framework (CAF) in practice
  • Identify and understand the key documentation currently related to the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) including exploration of the elements
  • Identify and implement the effective application of the CAF assessments, including communication and documentation of relevant information

Who this course is aimed at

The CAF assessment tool will be mandatory by 2008 for all agencies involved with children regardless of their service provision. Our training day looks at the background and ethos to the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) as well as the CAF assessment protocols and discusses good practice - this course is for anyone who works with children in any capacity and requires no previous knowledge on behalf of the participants.

DANOS

This programme supports the following DANOS Units:

AB7 Provide services to those affected by someone else’s substance use

AF2 Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise need

AG3 Assist in the transfer of individuals between agencies and services

BE2 Provide information to support decision making

All participants completing this course will receive a certificate of attendance and a comprehensive portfolio of information for future reference in a binder.
