   Healthwise Training Services - One Day Programme - Alcohol Awareness

Aim

This educational programme aims to increase participants’ knowledge and develop understanding of the social, psychological and physical aspects of alcohol use and the related issues.


Learning objectives

On completion of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Explore attitudes to alcohol and to those with alcohol problems by oneself and by society in general
  • Understand the different types of alcohol products
  • Understand how to measure the potency of alcohol
  • Understand the concept of safe alcohol drinking and the daily benchmarks
  • Explore alcohol's potential impact on the human body
  • Identify the different types of drinker - and potential harm
  • Explore how alcohol drinking can influence and increase social and psychological harm

Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS)

This programme supports the attainment of the following DANOS Units:

AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse and refer individuals to specialists

AA3 Enable individuals to find out about and use services and facilities

AA4 Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights

AB1 Support individuals when they are distressed

AB2 Support individuals who are substance users

AB5 Assess and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance users

AC1 Develop your own knowledge and practice

AC3 Contribute to the development of the knowledge and practice of others

AD1 Raise awareness about substances, their use and effects

AF3 Carry out comprehensive substance misuse assessment

Healthwise Training Services has made a commitment to deliver quality training. This course is aimed at anyone who wants to increase their knowledge and understanding of alcohol. It does not demand any previous knowledge on behalf of the participants. It will provide a sound and comprehensive basis for further work in this area or as an introduction to the subject.

It is useful for anyone who works with alcohol using clients of any age and in any capacity. it is also suitable for anyone wanting to understand more about alcohol and it's effects regardless of their professional status, age or situation. It is eminently suitable to be delivered to service users, young people, community groups etc

All participants completing this course will receive a certificate of attendance and a portfolio of information for future reference in a binder.
