Aim This educational programme aims to increase participants’ knowledge and develop understanding of the social, psychological and physical aspects of alcohol use and the related issues.
On completion of the programme participants will be able to:
Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS) This programme supports the attainment of the following DANOS Units: AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse and refer individuals to specialists AA3 Enable individuals to find out about and use services and facilities AA4 Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights AB1 Support individuals when they are distressed AB2 Support individuals who are substance users AB5 Assess and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance users AC1 Develop your own knowledge and practice AC3 Contribute to the development of the knowledge and practice of others AD1 Raise awareness about substances, their use and effects AF3 Carry out comprehensive substance misuse assessment Healthwise Training Services has made a commitment to deliver quality training. For our work on Alcohol and Drugs this has meant redesigning our training content and delivery systems to ensure that each course makes a positive and measurable contribution to the delivery of relevant DANOS units. All our programmes now include specified learning objectives linked to the appropriate DANOS units.

It is useful for anyone who works with alcohol using clients of any age and in any capacity. it is also suitable for anyone wanting to understand more about alcohol and it's effects regardless of their professional status, age or situation. It is eminently suitable to be delivered to service users, young people, community groups etc All participants completing this course will receive a certificate of attendance and a portfolio of information for future reference in a binder.
