One Day Programme -

HIV/AIDS Awareness

 

Aim

The programme aims to increase and develop participants’ knowledge, understanding and awareness of HIV/AIDS and the recognised routes of transmission.

The programme also aims to develop a shared understanding of some of the terminology used within the HIV/AIDS field.


Learning objectives

On completion of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Understand and explain the difference between 'HIV’ & ‘AIDS’
  • Understand the way that the HIV retrovirus works
  • Understand the terminology used when talking about HIV/AIDS
  • Identify routes of transmission of HIV
  • Understand the stages of HIV infection and the issues associated with each stage
  • Explore issues, pros and sons of HIV testing

This programme is aimed at anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge and understanding of HIV and AIDS. It requires no previous knowledge from the participants and will provide a good, comprehensive introduction to the subject.

All participants completing this course will receive a certificate of attendance and a portfolio of information for future reference in a binder.
